Counselling and Psychotherapy
crisis resolution also offers a counselling & psychotherapy service. These therapies work to bring about changes in feelings, thoughts attitudes or behaviours that are troubling a person.
Therapy has proved helpful to those who have benefited from our emergency crisis resolution service by allowing them to look explore some of the longer term issues they experience once their crisis has been resolved.
We also offer this as a stand alone service for those who are seeking therapy but are not feeling in immediate crisis. We work with individuals, couples and families as well as groups.
Psychotherapy aims to treat people with long histories of serious emotional difficulties. These are linked to personal development, often over many years, and sometimes right from early childhood.
The aim in psychotherapy is to look more deeply into the emotions, conflicts and distress behind the feelings that can hinder you in life today.
Counselling and psychotherapy are based on listening and talking. They both involve exploring past conflicts in relation to your current problems in order to make change possible.
Our Therapists come from a range of theoretical backgrounds, and therefore the exact nature of treatment offered will depend on who you work with. However, we work integratively offering a range of therapies to include, solution focused, CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), psychodynamic, gestalt…….
Individual psychotherapy sessions normally last fifty minutes, group therapy meetings are for one and a half hours.
Enabling the exploration of feelings and relationships more effectively gives a chance to really look at an issue in some depth and gain a more confident perspective.

Advocacy
As an independent organisation we are able to offer a confidential service to those needing support at a time of confusion. The purpose of advocacy is to speak up for or act on behalf of another person.
Crisis advocacy is about providing an immediate response to an urgent situation.
At crisis resolution we can help you to clarify your own views and wishes on diverse issues such as:
- Employment issues – acting as impartial interface between employer and employee
- Mental health issues – from new diagnosis onwards
- Divorce/separation
- Family difficulties
and much more….
How could advocacy help you?
The first thing an advocate will do is listen to you and what you have to say about your situation. Your crisis resolution advocate will try to understand your situation from your point of view.
The advocate can then:
- work alongside you to support you in finding the best possible outcome for your situation
- help you to gain the right information
- assist you writing letters
- make phone calls on your behalf
- come to meetings with you and, at your request, they can speak on your behalf
- Act as an extra pair of eyes and ears at important events
Advocates are not there to tell you what to do, they are there to support you in your choices and decisions.
Confidentiality
Anything that you tell anyone within the crisis resolution service will be treated as confidential. An advocate will only speak to anyone on your behalf if they have your permission.
Support is only a phone call away.
