Help yourself and your animals during Fireworks Season
Basic guidelines to help your animals through this often traumatic evening (or month?) are to provide them with company and thus reassurance – don’t abandon them in the back room to cope alone. If this is not something that you would usually do then this atypical behaviour may distress them further and stroking and holding, or maybe even just being in your company will create a soothing setting and produce a feeling of safety.
Do draw the curtains and blinds in order to create a sheltered environment, with small animals cover their cages – mask the bright flashes of light.
Jan de Vries’ Flower Essences for shock and trauma are great for your animals during the firework season, and will help calm the down heartened doggy, cranky cat, humble hamster, raging rabbit and hysterical horse as well as providing relief from terror.
Animals, like humans, can suffer with emotional problems and personality imbalances.

For a Homeopathic approach for ourselves and young children, who are too young to understand these sudden loud and intrusive bangs there are remedies that calm fear, deal with shock and bring relief. Think of the remedy Borax in particular for fear of sudden noise; Aconite for that real deep fear and Arg Nit for anticipatory fear at the beginning of those noisy evenings.
