Echinacea is a herb traditionally known for its symptomatic relief when used with colds, flu, and upper respiratory tract infections. Echinacea is an immune balancer/modulator, and can be of great benefit in health problems caused by an overactive immune system. It can be used topically due to its antiseptic, antiviral and anti bacterial properties – it is of great help to ulcers, burns and stings, additionally anti-inflammatory properties make it invaluable in the treatment of infected or poorly healing superficial wounds when applied around the affected area.
It is available as either a tablet or as a herb, however the old saying of you get what you pay for definitely applies here! When buying your Echinacea get a good quality brand (such as A.Vogel Echinaforce (previously Bioforce)). If buying tablets, fresh tincture tablets are best
Dosage – adults should take 15 drops of tincture 2-3 times daily in a little water, children (6-12 yrs) 7 drops 2-3 times daily. With tincture tablets adults should take 2 2-3 times daily, and children (6-12 yrs) 1 tablet 2-3 times daily.
