Verrucae are warts of the foot and are a result of infection with the human papilloma Virus (HPV). There are 90 subtypes of HPV, and transmission is by direct contact with the virus. It is not spread by blood but often spread by coming into contact with infected skin fragments and contaminated surfaces – hence the requirement for children with verrucae to wear plastic socks when swimming and the prevalence of the infection in children as the virus is predisposed to love moist conditions.

The menopause need not be the end, it could be the beginning! It usually occurs in women between the ages of 40 and 55.
