Welcome to the Homeopathic College of East Anglia!

The diary of a stressed out student of Homeopathy…

Georgina Fisher BSc (Hons) MTI ITEC HFR is the Practice Manager of the Complementary Health Care Clinic, and acting registrar for The Homeopathic College of East Anglia. In October 2006 she decided to join the latest intake and started the four year professional training programme to become a professionally qualified Homeopath. We will be periodically publishing a copy of her monthly diary, including tips about the remedies she has learnt about that month, her thoughts about Homeopathy, and a few hints and tips about seasonal issues and new / appropriate therapies.

February 2007 – I’m not looking forward to the college this weekend, because it’s now Thursday night, and despite sitting up until 11pm on Tuesday, I’ve still got three bits of homework to complete – and I can’t see it happening!! Saturday morning – sat up until midnight last night and completed two bits of the homework. Thankfully it didn’t take too long, but I’ve learnt about leaving it until the last second…. Next month I’m in Australia, but I’ve already emailed a couple of the lecturers to ask them to bring in March’s homework so I can hand it in early. I’ve been banned from taking the laptop away with me so I can’t work, and I’m being forced to have a holiday…

Saturday: Whoohoo! March homework is a Materia Medica test on all the Homeopathic remedies, I’ll miss it!! Have also found out that we have nearly four hours lectures on herbal remedies tomorrow, so I can’t wait. Today we looked at Platina, Stramonium and Sepia. Sepia I found particularly interesting as it’s really helpful for

Sunday pm: Oops. I found out earlier that I have to take the Materia Medica test BEFORE I go away – less time to revise. I’m panicking slightly about packing all this information in… maybe I’ll try drawing some mind maps this week…Sally found them very helpful.. hmm… I can’t draw! Eek!

Had the herbal lectures with Alison Cullen from A.Vogel (Bioforce) earlier – they were totally fantastic! She’s a nutritional therapist with an interest in herbs. We looked at Echinacea in depth, and learnt about how it’s a prophylactic for bugs, how it encourages the leucocytes (white blood cells) to search out and destroy (by phagocytosis) the nasty bugs in the body. We also looked at how its holistically balanced, and grown for its natural selection of chemical constituents rather than

Well. Better take my A.Vogel herbal tinctures (I’m taking Ginsavena at the moment for tiredness and stress, Gingko Biloba for circulation, memory and concentration (heaps of work to get done before we go!), Aesculus to help prepare my legs for the flying and to ensure that I don’t get a DVT) – and off to bed! Early morning tomorrow as I have to tidy up the mess from the college, and put all the rooms back for the clinic patients first thing…. Arggggg….i’ll be needing the Echinacea, not to mention Vitamin C and Zinc to boost the old immune levels and stop myself from catching a bug this month!!
